Partied out from Pride in WeHo or Super-Fun Saturday here at LAist? This week has more chill than the ice cream at Wanderlust (where, btw, you can score a free scoop on Tuesday).

For some soothing tunes, check out Andrew Bird and his jazz standards playbook at the Lodge Room. For a new hobby to help you find your zen, Bonsai expert Daniel Deephouse is hosting a workshop on the Japanese art of caring for and shaping miniature trees at Vroman’s. And for your next great read, pop into Zibby’s Bookshop for a talk with novelists Katherine Vaz and Laura Warrell on Tuesday.

There’s lots more to explore at LAist.com where you can learn how to reserve your seat on the beach bus all summer long, plan your next City Trek with us along the L.A. River and Glendale Blvd., or pick your favorite classic film to see at L.A. Conservancy’s Last Remaining Seats series.

The show also features intricate costume design by Sueko Oshimoto & Kentaro Terra of SK Kimono and a chorus performed by the South Bay Singers led by Naoko Suga.

Multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird is an old soul who’s experimented and excelled in so many music formats it’s almost hard to keep track. He’s played with the symphony, explored blues and roots influences, and brought whistling into the mainstream. But his latest – and really most fitting – dive is into mid-century jazz, where he seems right at home. He’s been featuring his new album of standards, Sunday Morning Put On, on a series of smooth YouTube videos that sound perfect with brunch and the Sunday paper. He brings his jazz trio to the Lodge Room on Monday. Ask for a martini straight up and enjoy the ride.
