Wizard101: A Guide to Big Ben (2024)

Wizard101: A Guide to Big Ben (1)

Big Ben – A Big Task

At the end of Marleybone, you’ll have to take on your hardest challenge yet: fighting through every floor of enemies in Big Ben, the Royal Museum’s clocktower.

This is the longest dungeon that Wizard101‘s first arc has to offer, and it’s pretty difficult at the level you reach it, so I made a guide to cover all the battles and the puzzle on the eighth floor. Side quest items like the Stray Cat, the history book, and Jack Thistleberry’s treasure chests are also noted for the floors they appear on.

Bring a full set of potions and make sure you have time to complete a 15-floor dungeon in one sitting; if you leave halfway through, you’ll have to start at the bottom again. Good luck!

Floor 1

On this floor you’ll fight two balance mobs, O’Leary Connivers with 675 health apiece. You’ll also talk to Travis Pawman, who needs you to be a distraction so he can get up into the maintenance areas of the tower. After this, head to the next floor through the elevator.

Floor 2

On the second floor, you’ll find a Street Sweeper (Myth) and another O’Leary Conniver (Balance). Defeat them and move on to the next floor.

Floor 3

The third floor has no combat, just wisps and two friendly faces. Talk to Travis Pawman to continue the storyline. You can also talk to Jack Thistleberry for a side quest where you can unlock treasure chests on the upper floors of the tower. Once you’re done, move on to floor 4.

Floor 4

The fourth floor is home to a Filcher (Ice Mob) and a Kettlehead (Balance Mob). Defeat them, but before you leave, notice the plaque that’s lit up by the elevator with an ice symbol. It’ll be important later.

Floor 5

For the fifth floor, you’ll have to fight an O’Leary Rowdy and a Filcher, both Ice mobs. Note the lit-up plaque by the elevator with a bird on it before continuing on your journey.

Floor 6

The sixth floor has our first boss fight with Gearhead, a storm boss, and a Kettlehead (Balance mob). Once you defeat them, you’ll see another lit plaque with a dog on it. You’ll also see a bottle of milk lying on the floor. If you knock over the milk bottles in this dungeon, you’ll be able to fight a secret boss later and get a rare badge. After finishing up on this floor, move on to floor 7.

Floor 7

This floor spices things up with three enemies to fight. There’s an O’Leary Rowdy (Ice) and two Brown Recluses (Life). After this duel, four wooden chests from Jack Thistleberry’s quest will spawn in the corners of the room; each person can pick one. You’ll also have health wisps to grab, and another plaque to look at. This plaque has a moon on it. After you’re done, enter the elevator and go to the next floor.

Floor 8

The eighth floor has a puzzle for you to solve in order to get the elevators on the floors above working. Step on the ice symbol, the bird, the dog, and the moon, then pull the lever. Now you can continue to the ninth floor.

Floor 9

The ninth floor has another Filcher (Ice mob) along with a Nightmare Spirit (Death). Defeat them and keep going up!

Floor 10

The tenth floor has a Kettlehead (Balance) and a Nightmare Spirit (Death). If you are interested in fighting the secret boss, there is a second bottle of milk to knock over on this floor.

Floor 11

The eleventh floor has three enemies for you to take down: two Nightmare Spirits, as well as a Potbelly (Storm mob). Fight them, and then the silver chests for Jack Thistleberry’s quest will appear.

Floor 12

This floor has no battles, but if you’re working on the Zeke quest (check out our guide for all of the Zeke item locations), the Stray Cat can be found here behind some crates to the left. There are also a lot of wisps, so put your potions away! Continue to the 13th floor.

Floor 13

The 13th floor has a Potbelly and a Shield Skeleton (Death mob), as well as the third and final bottle of milk. If you’ve spilled them all, congrats, you can fight the secret boss! Keep going up to the next floor.

Floor 14

If you’ve unlocked him, Spike the Crusher will be present for this floor’s scuffle, and at 2800 HP he’s pretty tough for a wizard around level 30. He’s accompanied by two Potbellies as minions; if you didn’t unlock Spike you will only face the Potbellies on this floor. Defeating this boss will give you the “Crusher Crusher” badge.

Floor 15

And here we are at last, at the top floor. Meowiarty (Myth boss) and the Agony Wraith (Death boss) from Newgate Prison have teamed up, as well as a random Clockwork Wizard (Life mob) that might be lost. Since this is a double boss battle, bring heals, shields, and if you have it trained, Feint helps a lot to boost your damage. Once you finish, you’ve beaten Big Ben and Marleybone as a whole. Congratulations! Before you leave, don’t forget to open a gold chest on this floor if you’re doing Jack Thistleberry’s quest, and read the history book about the Marleybone Civil War if you are working on the history book quest for Henry Wellingbrook.

What did you think about Big Ben, and would you want to see Wizard101 do super-long dungeons like this again in the future, or would you prefer they keep it short and sweet? Discuss in the comments!
