- Europe, TRAVEL GUIDE, travel Inspiration, Travel
Experience the European cities from the rails as both the light trains and the night trains whiz through the countryside. If you would like to try taking the interrail, here we give you the best routes in Europe.
The characteristic feature of the European rails is that many of the countries have got completely new routes and timetables. Over the past 12 months, many media outlets have highlighted Vienna, which is said to offer exceptional routes. Several have even named Austria's capital as having the absolute best train routes in all of Europe. But the journey does not stop in the Austrian countryside, because in recent years massive improvements have been made to the train network in Spain, Italy and other places in Europe as well.
Read along here, where you will be presented with the latest routes from the European train timetable, and the guide offers two night trains, two day trains and two brand new express trains.
From Paris to Vienna in the night train

And return again from Vienna on Monday, Thursday and Saturday night. The price for the trip is 59.90 euros in a regular compartment and 94.90 euros in a sleeping compartment.
The train ride is both beautiful and perhaps a bit romantic, as it takes you along the Marne Valley and past beautiful Champagne vineyards.
Amsterdam to Zurich overnight train
In 11 hours and 37 minutes, asleep or awake, you can travel from Amsterdam to Zurich. Tand the route is scheduled to run every single day and the price for the trip is 59.90 euros in a regular compartment and 99.90 euros in a sleeping compartment.

Train travel in Europe: Here are the 10 most beautiful routes
Stuttgart to Vienna via Tyrol
The Austrian operator öbb has admitted another new route, which takes you from Stuttgart to Vienna in 9 hours and 45 minutes. The train runs daily. And although it is said not to be the fastest on the stretch, the view from the compartments is fantastic. Among other things, you drive south towards Lake Constance past the Arlberg Railway and Innsbruck. The price for a trip is 37.90 euros for 2nd class, 56.90 dollars for 1st class and 71.90 euros for business.
Ljubljana to Budapest via Graz
8 hours and 40 minutes for 39.40 euros if you travel in 2nd class or 51.90 if you travel in first. A train connection between Ljubljana and Budapest is certainly not new. But the classic train – called Cittadella – has been upgraded by a brand new route called 05.05. Via the Austrian Styria region, the new high-speed train takes you on a scenic journey – some even refer to it as a time capsule that reveals how Europe has changed over the past 30 years.
Madrid to Santiago de Compostela by express train
You can now travel from the Spanish city of Madrid to Santiago de Compostela by express train in approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes. That's fast, and the new fast train has trimmed 70 minutes off the already existing route. That's time optimization!
Genoa to Naples by express train
With the speed of lightning, in 6 hours and 40 minutes, you can travel from Genoa to Naples by express train. The private train operator NTV Italo have expanded their routes to Italy. And in December they opened their new route from Genoa to Naples.
